Most of the buildings selected for the image file are extant. Their conditions vary but all display the particular qualities that distinguish the style.The house that best exemplifies the Stick Style is the Overholt House in Wooster, OH. All the hallmarks of the style are evident at this property including an abundance of chamfered posts and brackets, multiple ornamented gables and dormers, a variety and volume of stick-work as well as an outstanding tower.Houses as well as other buildings will be continually added to the file. Users of the site are encouraged to submit suggestions. Most of the houses listed are within driving distance of UMass Dartmouth.

The most admired house in the Stick Style is the Griswold House in Newport, RI designed by Richard Morris Hunt in 1862-1863. Other houses that often make the textbooks as benchmarks of the style include the Emlen Physick House in Cape May, NJ by Frank Furness, the Mark Twain House in Hartford, CT by Edward T. Potter, and the William J. Clark House in Branford, CT by Henry Austin. Another important but less well-known building is the Trinity Episcopal Church in Claremont, NH by Frank Wills and Henry Dudly,1852-185.
