Thomas H. Knowles House

Building Name:
Thomas H. Knowles House

Architect:
Unknown

Date:
1882

Address:
404 County Street New Bedford, MA

Current Use:
Residential/Office

Notes:
This house is a rare example of late Stick Style construction. It has pierced and incised wood details, clapboard siding, a steep roofline and stick-work. It also has beautiful stained glass windows. Stained glass windows were a stylish detail of the Queen Anne and Shingle styles. By 1882 these two styles had replaced the Stick Style in popularity, especially on the east coast.
