Information Services Mission Statement

The Information Services Division supports the mission of the university library and the university—to promote access, excellence, innovation, economic development, public service, and quality of life—by creating collections that appropriately support the university’s curriculum and by providing expert assistance and instruction in the identification, evaluation, and use of the library’s collections and resources beyond the library in all formats, print-based and electronic, traditional and developing. The division’s librarians serve as library liaisons to designated departments, programs, and centers, and regard the liaison program as central and essential. While the students, faculty, and staff of the university are the library’s primarily clientele, the division is also committed, to the extent that material and human resources allow, to extending service to individuals, schools, organizations, and businesses in the local community.
