Digital Media Center

The Digita Media Center is managed by Library Systems Analyst Christopher Garron.  In addition to direct assistance by Mr. Garron during normal business hours, the DMC also offers student assistants who are avaialble to help their peers on a variety of digital media projects.

Located in the Scholarly Commons on the 2nd floor of the library, the Digital Media Center (DMC) is a space designed for collaborative learning. It serves as an environment for creating course-related multimedia presentations, projects and portfolios. It provides specialized tools and equipment for working with digital media complete with spacious workstations and seating, and equipment to support students and faculty in the creation of digital imaging, graphic design and illustration, animation, creation and conversion of media for the web, desktop publishing, multimedia presentations, digital video, encoding and serving, and the design and creation of DVDs and streaming video/audio.


Created to support and assist UMassD students, faculty and staff, the Digital Media Center provides experienced support and one-on-one consultation in the creation of digital media, photos, audio, videos and web for assignments, projects, coursework, and publications. With the wide variety of production equipment and software installed on the DMC workstations, we have everything you need to create fresh and original digital media content. We suggest you consult with DMC staff before you begin your project so that we can provide you with the best assistance possible. 

Available Software and Hardware

Currently the DMC is equipped with 4 Windows 7 workstations and 5 Mac Pro workstations featuring:

  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Final Cut Pro (available on limited workstations)
  • Maya-3D Rendering Software
  • Unity Gaming Development Software
  • TextWrangler Code Editor
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Headsets and Pen Tablets (Available at Library Circulation Desk; Valid identification (UMass Pass) is required)
  • Scanners
